Wendy, Founder of ‘Turn the Page’
Born in the UK in the 70s, since an early age I have always been someone in search of the stage either for singing or acting purposes! Having started drama lessons on weekends when I was 10, I then began acting and singing in school productions, and when I was 16, I joined my local adult amateur dramatics society, the highlight for me being ‘Cabaret’.
I completed my BA Hons degree in Theatre and Media Drama in South Wales where I enjoyed not only acting, but discovering many aspects of film and theatre, including directing, costume design and script writing. Such skills have enabled me to diversify the types of drama sessions that I offer.
After finishing my PGCE at Cambridge, I went into the teaching of special needs students, which involved being ‘on stage’ to keep ‘my audience’ engaged and helped to support their progression.
Since moving to Switzerland in 2011, I have taught English in schools and Drama in my spare time to both children and adults. I have taught in both English and French.
But the teacher is not afraid to be taught… I am active in 2 local theatre groups, having acted, sung and directed, and am a karaoke fiend, never afraid to step up to the mic!
My approach to teaching
- Professional, not strict
- Fun, not chaotic
- Supportive, not overbearing
- Respectful, not humiliating
